"The Summer of the Green Tomato"

That is what I overheard on the MAX today. Yes, another COLD June day. I keep thinking, "People in Iceland still go on with their lives when it's not only cold, but dark." Determined not to spend the day inside the house, I bundled up Talmage and Sydney and off we went to OMSI, the Science Museum. I bundled them up because I decided to take public transport instead of the car ... you know ... gas being what it is and OMSI being where it is. Our transportation adventure included walking, light rail, and bus. Here is Talmage (and Sydney asleep in carseat), waiting for the bus downtown.

Talmage is cooking vegetables, Sydney is watching the lights, a foot is not stepping on Sydney's head.

T really enjoyed the fake food area at OMSI. Tonight we continued with the cooking theme by making cookies together for the first time. I asked T what I should make out of the dough and he said, "Mater Truck." I don't know what was more fun, making the cookies or eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeating the cookies. Yum. Yum.I wonder if our kids think they are on a Reality T.V. show, what with all the camera clickin' going on. If not a Reality show, then for sure cooking show.

Yes, but that's the reason we don't live in Iceland! I'm sick of gray days, rain, hail and 40 degrees. I had a robe and fuzzy socks on last night and a cup of herbal tea and it's the middle of June! Utah should be sunny, dry and 70-80 degrees by now. Will I be missing these days in few weeks when it's 100? Green tomatoes may be better than no tomatoes given the salmonella scare. We ordered Quizno's sandwiches yesterday and when we asked for tomatoes, they said sorry. (They were quarantined!) It must be pretty chilly in Portland...I can see Talmage's green beanie poking out under his rain hood and Sydney is covered with at least 3 blankets. The OMSI seems to be a fascinating place. Fun video. The little Cookie Monster photos are lovable. I like the look of intent/concern in the oven shot and the look of satisfaction/adoration in the sampling shot. However, that cookie does not look like Mater. Well, if the icing were red it could be a Tow-Mater. Oh-oh, I'm back to the title of this post!

WEATHER
(Anonymous)
Whether the weather be fine
Or whether the weather be not,
Whether the weather be cold
Or whether the weather be hot,
We'll weather the weather
Whatever the weather,
Whether we like it or not.
